The 100 Day Project Journal Page

Last week, while wandering around Instagram, I came across something that caught my interest. It was a 100 day, creative project idea...and since I'm in a bit of a welcomed lull in the studio, I thought I would check it out. I've done lots of challenges in the past, creating art for X number of days...and to be honest I usually get distracted with something else and fall off the creative challenge wagon. But this time I'm approaching it differently.

I'm not looking at this as a challenge, but rather an opportunity to explore my creative side. I think we all know I love to paint and make art...but I want to take it a little deeper than that and explore the what, where and why of my art practice. So I'm taking each of the 100 days to look at that. Somedays I'll be painting in my art journals, writing down ideas on paper, taking a walk to get inspired, trying something new, going out to a museum or gallery, grab a cup of coffee with an art pal to discuss what we're working on. It has so many way it can go making it more likely that I'll complete the 100 days and gather some new habits and realisations along the way.

Art Journals

I started out by gathering together art journals that I've worked in over the years ...there are plenty of blank pages to continue working on. I opened up five of them and added a texture finish with plaster and gesso just to get them ready for me to work in at any time.

Next step was just to add some color to get me started on each spread...not sure or directing where it takes me. The main thing is to do something everyday, for however long I have to give it that day. I did join the paid version of the project (you don't have to do this) so I could get the props they send each day...and then I interpret them to fit my 100 day project!

Day One: What's In Your Creative Container

Day Two : Constraint Breeds Creativity

I added a link below if you want to join in...you can do anything you want...it doesn't have to be art. You can write, jump, swing from a tree, create...whatever will make you feel good and move you along this wonderfully creative life!
