If you've been following along with me, and I hope you have...my Pennies From Heaven solo art exhibit came to a close Friday the 26th...and what a wonderful experience that has been. I was very honored that so many of my friends and collectors showed up throughout the two weeks of the show and many of my art pieces made it out of the gallery and onto their walls...thank you so much for that!
While there was a lot of art to see in the show, there were a few that seemed to grab the eye and draw viewers in for a closer look...I love when art does that and mixed media art almost requires it! People often comment when they see my art up close and in person that they had no idea there were so many layers and so many things to see that just don't show up in a photo.
I'll have these new pieces on the wall in the F1VEart studio for First Friday on
Feb 2nd from 4 to 8...come on by for a closer look.
While being in the F1VEart Gallery tending the show this last week I took the time to create a few more to add to my ongoing Remnants series. I love the whole process of creating these pieces...from going through my papers where I collect my inspiration for a piece, coming up with a composition, laying the papers down with gel medium, creating a matt around them using venetian plaster and then framing them in a simple black frame. It's all good!
I even got to create a commission piece for a special someone to give as a birthday gift to her special someone. I enjoy the challenge and have fun when someone brings me a stack of papers, ephemera, memorabila from their stash of memories and I get to make something of it for them. I hope she likes this as much as I did bringing it together.
Of course I shared how I put this together in this weeks Studio Session over on my YouTube channel. In case you don't know...I do a video every week that comes out on Saturday mornings...I call it Studio Sessions. It's mostly whatever I'm working on in the studio that week and I'm always happy to share the process. This week is Studio Session145 and below is a link to that and all my videos...enjoy!
